How to operate the machine?

User’s manual:


I. Overview

Our factory specialized in the production of a series of machinery for bamboo and wood products of toothpick and chopsticks. Our products have been sold all over China, Africa, Europe, and Southeast Asian countries.

The machine line is a major processing machine for the production of bamboo products such as toothpicks, barbeque skewers, incense sticks, round chopsticks, bamboo strip mats, and bird cages. The machine has a wide range of applicability.

2.Common flow chat of bamboo toothpick machine line:

Installation and operation

1. Prior to installation, check if any damage or loose screw occurred during transportation.

2. The machine should be installed in a ventilated place without a potential fire hazard. It is necessary to provide sufficient passages and space for maintenance, loading, and unloading of materials around.

3. Turn the belt wheel with hands to check if all moving parts are flexible and smooth.

4. Check if shaping cutter specification conforms to that of products to be produced.

5. Start the rolling and planing cutter to check if it turns smoothly with relatively low noise.

6. After the rolling and planing cutter turns properly, start the feed conveyor. The machine should run smoothly with low noise and without noticeable vibration.

7. After the machine runs properly, conduct a loading test. It is necessary to load materials with a front flat surface (or blue-green surface) downwards. Generally, it is necessary to use straight materials. If there is any bent material to be used, it is advisable to load the material with the concave side inwards. The material should be pushed in close against the guide board of the feed mouth. After the material is processed into shape, check if the shape of the final products meets the requirements. If not, adjustment is needed.

8. During processing, if the material can’t be conveyed, it is necessary to check if the bamboo strip seriously turns aside. Furthermore, it is necessary to check if the bamboo joint is stuck by the material guide device, or the pressure of the feed-delivery wheel is insufficient. If the material is stuck, it is allowed to remove the material only when the machine is stopped to avoid damaging the cutter head.


V. Machine adjustment

The machine is adjusted and inspected before leaving the factory. Usually, no readjustment is needed if no damage occurs during handling and transportation. However, adjustment is needed after the change of product specifications or machine disassembly for repair. Generally, the adjustment can be conducted according to the following.


1. Check lower plate (whether product specifications are changed or rolling and planing cutter is dismantled for grinding, the plate positioning must not be changed). If the plate is maintained and repaired due to its looseness or serious abrasion, it is necessary to reinstall and readjust it. Its top height must be in level with the top height of the feed-delivery wheel close to the discharging side. Especially, the lower plate of the shaping cuter should be more carefully adjusted and corrected in a line method. Generally, the feed-delivery wheel close to the charging side is 0.4mm lower than that in the discharging side. Moreover, the wheel radius should be 0.1 – 0.2 mm smaller. Therefore, when using the line method, it is advisable to attach a paper slip 0.5mm thick or so on the feel delivery wheel, then draw the thin line against the top of the fore and rear two feed-delivery wheels. In this case, inside, outside, front, and rear of the plate tops must be all in level with as the bottom of the drawn line. Be sure that the plate top should be even and the edge of the charging end assumes slight bevel. The end edge should be perpendicular to the working flown line. The better, the closer to the rolling cutter. However, a certain safety clearance must be left.

2. Check lower rolling cutter. Generally, the cutter height should not be changed. Adjustment is needed only when its abrasion is relatively large, or specifications of shaping cutters are changed. After adjustment, be sure that cutting edges at the groove bottom of the grooving cutter and the flat cutter are in level with the plate top. When making the adjustment, a straight-line extension method can be used to align the cutters. Check the tightness of the cut blank in the clearance between upper and lower plates when the machine is temporarily stopped midway during bamboo strip shape forming. Adjust the cutter height. However, when using the clearance method, be sure that the upper and lower plates are parallel and the thickness of the blank strip before being cut meets the specified requirements.

3. Check the upper and lower plates. The upper plate bottom must be parallel with the lower plate top ahead. The table-board extension method of the lower plate can be used for the test. The Table-board height of the upper plate top should according to blank thickness for cutting of flat cutter. Pay attention to the evenness of the plate top. The edge angle of the feeding end should assume a certain level. The better, the closer to the rolling cutter. But a certain safety clearance must be left. Pay attention to the consistency of the inner and outer clearance of the upper and lower plates.

4. Check upper rolling and planing cutter. The inner hole and shaft extension of the cutter should be well-matched with appropriate damp friction. The cutter should not be too loose when pushed and pulled with hands. Install the cutter on the shaft. Test it with a dial indicator. The jerkiness of the end face should not be larger than 0.8mm. Deviation and jerkiness of the cutting edge direction of the shaping cutter should not be larger than 0.1mm. The cutter height is determined by measuring the cut blank when the machine is temporarily stopped midway during bamboo strip shape forming.

5. Check fixed foot. The bottom of the fixed foot must be flat. The end edge close to the cutter must be perpendicular to the working flown line with a slight bevel. There should be slight obliquity between pressure surface and raw material to make end edge close to the cutter hold down the raw material. The pressure to hold the material down should not be too large or too small. Generally, it is determined through the test. Stop the machine midway when the material is being processed, and then lower the fixed foot until it just touches the material.

6. Check the side position limitation. The inner guide boards of the feed mouth and material position limitation must assume a straight line and their working flown lines are parallel. It is allowed that the wallboard is used as a measurement benchmark plane for tests. The extension line of the guide board of its side material position limitation is approximately 1.5 mm away from the groove side of the rolling cutter for bamboo strip shape forming.

7. Check the upper and lower feed-delivery wheel. When the machine works, upper and lower feed-delivery wheels should be parallel. Temporarily stop the machine midway during the material is loaded and cut, and then measure the distance at the front and rear of upper and lower shafts of all stages to see if they are consistent respectively.

8. Check the feed mouth. The plate top of the feed mouth should be several millimeters lower than the lower feed-delivery wheel. That means, when maximal material moves through, that the height of the plate top should not be higher than the top point of the lower feed-delivery wheel. The Guide board of the inner side of the feed mouth must not incline inwards. It should be parallel with the working flown line.

9. Check the machine vibration. The machine vibration should be extremely small when feeling it with hands. Check if the transmission belt vibrates relatively greatly when it works. Pull the transmission belt with hands to check if the tension of the belt is even and the magnitude of the tension is moderate. Remove the belt and start driving the motor of the cuter shaft. Check if the motor vibrates violently to test the dynamic balance of the motor and belt wheel. If conditions permit, make a static balance test.

10. Align the cutter. Correct height and position of the upper shaping cutter according to the roundness of bamboo strip shape forming.

11. Check the elastic foot. The hinge of the elastic foot should be agile with moderate elasticity. The better, the smaller pressure without influence on the depth of cut and evenness of cut face. Line of material holding tongue should be perpendicular to the work flown line and parallel with the bottom of the upper plate. The better, the closer to the cutter with a guarantee not to bump the planing cutter.
